Re: Frm & headlight issue
Yep, the short circuit counter should be able to be reset to restore the lights. The FRM will monitor the lights and if it detects a problem enough times, and is reset normally enough but the fault reappears, it will decide that the issue isn't with the lights, but an internal problem and it'll mark...

Re: Cooper SD electrics fault
I believe the body module, BC1, can go faulty on them, it might be related to that as it causes those types of errors.

Re: Help on remapping figures for a E60 530d and a F30 520d
Certainly there's going to be big improvements on each, but metrics like MPG and 0-60 are harder to find. MPGs will vary depending on the driver, it'll in effect amplify your driving style. If you're a bit of a hyper-miler, you'll see big improvements, if you're a sportier driver, you won't see as m...

If you're getting anything checked, check for a pulse to the injector.

right, there is some odd stuff going on there, Maybe a torque limiter has been missed or there is an issue with airflow.
Sometimes when the DPF fault codes are disabled, other codes get knocked out at the same time. There might be another issue holding the car back but without codes.

Re: Interpret your dashboard lights
There is a mistake in that! 31 is correct, handbrake warning, but 40 is actually just a general brake warning, so that's one of the lights that comes on with the BMW dodgy DSC brake pressure sensors on some of the 1 and 3 series, and it's also the light that would come on if there is low brake fluid...

Re: remap/6th gear
6th always in a bit crap, it's meant for cruising and economy, and not much good for acceleration. A remap will boost torque there, so it can accelerate in 6th, but it's not great for the transmission on flywheel. The gears obviously change the ratio of engine speed to wheel speed. First gear- engin...

Re: M6 LCI rear light upgrade coding
I can do coding, no probs, but it all depends what module is in there. There's two ways, one is an official retrofit update, which is all automatic through ISTA/P, but if BMW are saying it can't be done, it looks like that isn't going to be in the list of retrofit options. The other way is hand codi...

Re: M6 LCI rear light upgrade coding
I think the rear lights should be fine, there's a retrofit option available for most options, but in some cases people have had to also fit a new Light Module (most commonly on front light upgrades) If things going well, all that needs to be done is select the LCI retrofit and ISTA/P will do the res...

Re: Lewy's Z3 2.8 project - bitter sweet day
Yep, you've got a clock spring type tensioner, a I can just see it there in one pic. There are some E36's with a hydraulic shock damper instead. So, the tensioner is the one in the middle of the waterpump, alternator, crank damper and power steering. Pop the plastic cap off the centre, and there's a...
