118d M-Sport 2010 Tyre Size

Postby raw111111 » 17 Jun 2017, 16:27

Hi All,

Just purchased a new to me 118d M-Sport with 18" wheels and need to find out what size is the correct tyre size. Went to fetch the car and one of the rears was flat so got the value of a part worn back in cash and need to get some tyres ASAP. Can anyone help?

Currently the car has 215/40R18 and 245/35R18 which is coming up as one possible correct option, but not the only one.

I'll put an introduction and stuff up once the car's cleaned up as it's only dealer clean at the moment! Got a few things to sort but it should tidy up ok.

Cheers in advance,

Richard

There is no correct size as such - there were options from the factory, based upon the wheels size. Of course, the larger you go, the more they cost! I would stick at/around what you have, certainly no smaller on the front.

I presume that you have an E87 LCI

The M-Sports have staggered wheels 7.5x18 on the front and 8.5x18 on the rear.

So the tyres you have are the correct size - 215/40 18 front and 245/35 18 on the rear.

Any other size options will be narrower tyres for non M-Sport models or for larger diameter wheels which were an option spec when ordering from new.

Cheers for the response. I'll get looking for some tyres then! Annoying that few manufacturers seem to produce front and rear size in he same model of tyre.

I agree - but I have no problems with Continental tyres - either runflats or the 'old-fashioned' conventional ones.

There are loads of folks who will tell you to 'ditch the runflats' based on their experience - likely with the older generation Bridgestone Potenzas

I'm running ContiSportContact 5 and find them fantastic in both dry and wet.

Check here for your sizes:

Don't believe the app if it says 'no sizes available' - check with a good independent tyre fitter company.

or check here for all sizes alternative makes:

Hi,

Cheers for the reply. I've actually booked it in for four new Conti SportContact 5s on Tuesday morning. I normally use Camskill but they were only going to be about £20 cheaper than the fitted price I found through a deal and Camskill probably wouldn't have delivered until later in the week.

Gone for non-runflats and have a BMW genuine Tyre Rescue Kit thing on order from eBay DE for £45 incase I ever have a problem.

Regs,

Richard
