Estoril Blue polish/wax??

Post by michael212 » 17 Mar 2016, 13:53

Hello all, could anyone recommend a good polish and/or wax for my car?? Willing to pay decent money for the right stuff as the car is only 6 months old, been having a look about but not sure about which products to choose. Thanks

Polish or wax? Two different things. At 6 months old - unless it does high mileage - it shouldn't need polishing?

Wax - you can pay from a few quid to many hundreds. Loosely speaking more cost = longer lasting and usually better finish.

Mothers do a good economy range from about a tenner - I use it and it seems to last about 6 months/4k miles of mixed use with a car garaged overnight. Meguiars products are popular but not one I use. At £15 or so AutoGlym AquaWax is good value...whereas their Hi-Def wax at c£40 isn't really that much better! Beyond that you can pay fortunes for the (very good) Swissvax, Collinite etc...................

Have a look at these guys;

http://www.nipponshine.com/product-category/wax/

I use both the Fusso and the King of Gloss.

Fusso is a sealant so goes down before a wax and if I'm layering up I'll give the Fusso a week to cure but the results are brilliant IMO. I tend to use the Fusso over the winter months then will strip it all back come spring and use the King of Gloss as a final stage.

For Estoril I'd use the 'Light' versions.

Failing that you might want to consider one of the Quarts/ Ceramic coatings. They basically form a very hard (glass type) layer on top of the paint. It helps with preventing swirls and scratches. A friend has it on his car and if done properly they really work.
