Heated Seats

Post by lukaz » 04 Oct 2014, 18:14

So I have had the E87 a week now...
Due to it being misseus Daily drive I have only driven it 3 times..
Its pretty much all Good.

Only issue I have at the moment is the passenger side heated seats.
The driver side works perfectly.
However the passenger side the lights come on... stay on for about 10 seconds and then they all switch off.
I brought this of a car dealership so going to bring this up with him and hopefully get this fixed.
Can anyone tell me if this is a known common issue/fault?

At least its the drivers side even when a fault come its not at the detriment of the driver..
A bit like the passenger windows getting stuck on passenger side of my E46 (but that's another story  )

Yea could be a short... Thanks for the response had a quick check and couldn't seem to find anything that suggests such issues.
The dealer should be able to get it fixed and then Ill report back what the issues is was just curious really.

Thanks for the Reply Karlos

Sitrep update

So today the 1 series was booked in for the heated seat and I should be stating what the fault was and that its all repaired.

 that's not going to happen however.

After taking it in the auto repair garage said ahh yes you got this from the garage a few weeks ago. BMW 1 series fault on the passenger side yes...
we will take a look and give you a call when its ready.
about 4 or so hours later its ready.. excellent me and the girlfriend go to collect.

hands her the keys all done. what was wrong then?
Oh the sensor was broken just had to replace that for passenger airbag
first thing I do- go to the car press passenger heated seats it cuts out again!

-Excuse me the heated seat is still not working. :wtf:
-what do you mean we have a BMW booked in for the passenger airbag... and.. /:)
wait a second you didn't book it for the passenger airbag did you.... your the other one *penny drops* oh crap its the wrong BMW.
we have 2 1 series booked in AM from same garage and they got the cars mixed up...

The guy at reception apologized and we have re-booked on the promise next time it will not be mixed up again.
Now at this point myself and the girlfriend were pretty annoyed. But this is a mere insignificance compared to how pissed off the mechanic was when the guy in reception explained to the mechanic he just wasted 3 1/2 hours for a mistake.

so then better luck next time

Probably more worrying for the 'other' 1 series owner that now has a fully functioning heated seat and no airbag?!
