Hi adie. They were a great little car and a real Pocket Rocket BUT not the first - that was attributed to the Alfasud - I believe.adie wrote:£31k for the 1989 Peugoet 205 GTI !!... great cars in there time, loved mine... and that had 9 previous owners
It was a car that went through several changes of specification and finished as I believe with the Malaysian built 1.5 litre engine.
Unfortunately they were often blighted by the fact that they were a division of FIAT - fix it again tomorrow.
Other small yet hairy little shopping trolleys of cause included the Ford Fiesta XR2.
Ignorance of a complex subject is often described as bliss, but in the case of the complexities of an E46 it sometimes also needs deep pockets.

Hi M60NJP. Rust buckets - they certainly were but they could certainly leave a few of the contenders of the period wondering where they had disappeared to.M60NJP wrote:Alfasud! Rust buckets!

The Vauxhall Viva was another rust bucket but when tuned and tweaked they went like the proverbial off of a greased shovel.
The late Gerry Marshall could really make one move and the Vauxhall Firenza along with the limit production Brabham SL/90 HB (reputed to have been developed in conjunction with Jack Brabham.
The XR2 and the RS Turbo were both really quite incredible little cars in their own right and for the period.
