Spacers & Coilovers Query

Post by E92_Andy » 21 Jun 2017, 11:26

I'm running Rota Grid's 8.5J, 19" ET40, and planning coilovers and spacers next month.. Now I have a basic knowledge when it comes to this sort of thing but basically want to know if I need to run shortened drop links with the coilovers and what size spacers to go for? If I lower it 40/50mm and put 10mm spacers on would this fit okay? Thanks in advance :)

Many say to use shorter drop links.........lower it and check your ARB to see if it's moved in any way

The next bit is purely about measurements. It's impossible to say 10mm or 15mm spacers without going through the process of measuring.

Where do my wheels sit in the arch now. How much clearance have I got to both the arch and the existing suspension. How much larger are the coilovers compared to the original suspension. Normally the coilovers will have a larger diameter so do my wheels still clear the coilovers without spacers. If not, what size spacer do I need to clear the suspension. Once that's worked out do the wheels now foul the arch. Do I need to roll the arch do get all of this to fit.

So you see it's not just a case of saying 10mm will be fine

Yes you need shorter droplinks and 13mm minimum for true hubcentric spacers up front
