M60NJP's Ford Fiesta

Post by M60NJP » 18 Jul 2016, 17:13

Well, one person did ask!!

After the Volvo died (temporarily) it was clear an unreliable car was going to cause problems in terms of getting to/from work, so had a quick look locally for something cheap & simple and up popped this: 2007 (07) Ford Fiesta 1.4 Zetec Climate 2-door. One owner from new with 39k on the clock. Service history a bit patchy and looks to be missing the receipt/stamp for the last one as the oil was in good nick and certainly hadn't been in for 2 years. The young guy who owned it has moved to work in Hong Kong and his Dad was selling it for him. Four good tyres, fronts are pretty much new, rears about 6mm, a couple of bodywork marks and a small scratch on the front edge of the n/s sill which needs treating. This is climate version....but the CC doesn't work much so needs a re-gas (not good today!). A couple of stains on each front seat (nah, not that....more like a latte that's spilt!!).

Bought a new set of mats through the business and did a quick service - oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter and 4 plugs.......£20!! The outgoing plugs were in perfect light brown condition. I've chucked some STP fuel system cleaner through it, but never really believe it makes a lot of difference!! It drives a little 'tight' despite the miles so suspect it's bee used in/around MK only so needs some longer runs. Averages about 40 mpg on the journey to/from work (fast A road) but only 30 around town which isn't great by today's standards - but to/from work is what it's for.

Light and easy to drive, grips well and mostly quiet (a bit boomy on motorways), but otherwise unremarkable. MoT just done late June. I'll do the sill scratchs, probably poilsh/wax it but other than an occasional wash and maintenance will simply keep it 2-3 years and then sell it on.

heh heh.... loving the thought of Neal rinsing around in a slammed RS Inspired Fiesta! :))

In all seriousness though, looks like a decent little runaround... surprised at the mpg being so poor around town though... like you say though, maybe a couple of decent blasts will free it up a little...
