Bimmerfest 2017 - Travel, Accommodation etc

Post by M60NJP » 09 Jan 2017, 17:45

This thread is for the logistics of the event ONLY please. General chat etc can go in the other thread.

1. I've contacted Stena to get prices for car/driver, additional passenger(s) and cabins as per usual and will post back here when they respond

2. I'm considering going via Eurotunnel both ways this time. Just noticed that Eurotunnel have an offer on currently at £59 each way ( maxwell ). It's a lot cheaper than the ferry, but is a fair bit of a longer drive are each end. However I'm reckoning on a late morning train from Folkestone so will still be at wherever we stay by mid/late afternoon for beer and BBQ!

3. Ray's already let the event organisers know coming (back!) and we'll confirm number much nearer the time.

4. metroreg is no the case re accommodation - looking for something similar to previously.

Stena are holding last year's prices for group bookings as follows:

Car and driver = £59 e/w (£118 return!)
Passenger = £15 e/w (£30 return)
Single inside cabin = £34 e/w
2-berth inside cabin = £45 e/w

PLEASE NOTE - THEY HAVE ADVISED THAT THE OVERNIGHT FRIDAY SAILING IS ALREADY FAIRLY FULL, so early reservation is suggested!

Those who have been before - same contact person, e-mail and quote forum name.

If you've not been before please PM me for the details (not fair to post the guy's contact details on an open forum!!)

Check when you book, but full payment is usually due about 1 month prior from memory?

Assuming it's still Paul from 2 years ago I've emailed him and am awaiting response. Hopefully on the ferry with you guys this year. I do like the idea of a short drive at the other end.

There isn't one! The bar shuts about an hour after you get on. Need to drink fast!

Anyone else considering ferry there, tunnel back?

Don't fancy festering for 8 odd hours on the way back when I could be driving with the roof down :)
