Removing silencers?

Post by Stu_c » 28 Aug 2015, 06:42

Hi All
I have a 335i with Eisenmann race exhaust back box with the standard exhaust from Cat to Box I am looking to get a new mandrel bent exhaust to replace this section without the silencers will this be stupidly loud or will it sound okay?

Many thanks

I guess stupidly loud is a matter of opinion!!

I'd assume without the resonators it will be very boomy inside and annoy the hell out of your neighbours. You'll also get a lot of attention from Plod if your out at nighttime.

Removing the resonators will cause drone inside the car and yes it would be loud externally as well, you could replace the resonators with a more free flowing custom made setup though to tone it down a little

I always was told there's two sets of Silencers I was thinking of just removing one set, sorry should have made that bit more clear

Only you can have a look but I'm pretty sure that 'downstream' of the cat isa single silencer and two at the rear which you've replaced already? That's certainly the case on mine which is similar underneath
