Auto button on climate control

Post by Andyc58 » 16 Jun 2017, 17:43

Hi people. When I go to push the auto button it won't even push in. Is there any reason why I can't use this button.??

Which model of 318? (would be useful to detail your car in your profile so we don't have to ask!)

You have option $534 which is Automatic air conditioning so it should work, as a rule buttons do not push in as such they are one touch.
Try this - Engine must be running and warm, set temps to max and touch the Auto button, Led should light up and blower start to run. If you also have the little thumbwheel between the air vents make sure it is set to Red.

I've got it working. It's a sticky button. Pushed it in and it works. Only problem now is I can't get it off lol. Will take it apart and clean it.

I have mine on auto all the time - never switch it off.

Only pressed the button once - when I first got the car.

Fan on auto - snowflake button pressed - and that's it.
Always had a BMW since I collected my first one in Munich - a 528i in June 1982.

From the handbook:

Knurled wheel for varying temperature in upper body area.

Towards blue: cooler

Towards red: warmer

Set interior temperature for driver and front seat passenger is not changed.

Have you seen this video on how the Climate Control works:
