steering rack

Post by swalker » 03 Feb 2016, 12:48

During an MOT prep i was fitting a rack end and during removal of the boot, a white pringle fell out.
This of course, if i am right is the bush on the end of the rack adjuster, it was a couple of hours to the MOT so didn't have much time to look into it.

my questions are
1 how does the adjuster come out to fix it? it seemed to be bloody tight both directions and did not seem to have a lock nut/clip
2 can new bush be sourced?
3 how do i get the right adjustment when i put it all back together?

Thanks in advance,
Stewart

I'm gonna show my ignorance...............I have no idea what a 'pringle' is! (apart from those in tins!)

SEPTEMBER!!!
its MOT time again, yea i left it a few months , and again now...
Anyway, i found docs and its peened (guessing punched) to lock, and the proper name is the foil on the yoke..

LOL not much better.

I have seen on here a few rack refurbs, is anyone done this in situ before?

Thanks
Stewart
