Update pre-Holland:

Thumper went in for his check on my faulty roof on Tuesday, turns out there's a leak somewhere which led to approx 2inches of water in the battery compartment which is also where the roof motor and hydraulic pump are housed. My mechanic couldn't get the part on the day so car is going back in on Monday. Re-manufactured motor c£400 (from BMW for whole system c£1000!). Pump looks like its intact so he's going to change the motor and look at any corroded wiring plus obviously find out where the leak is.

Seems fairly common, one of the guys I work with had the same issue on his 2012 Z4.

So fingers crossed it will all be fixed by the time I leave, can't be doing with a road trip in a non-converting convertible!

Motor replaced and seals round rear lights replaced so it was 'vert-ing in Holland (except when the boot was full!)

But on the way home got my third windscreen crack in 2 months so my insurance aren't going to be very happy with me...
