New stainless exhaust fitted

Post by mattovplymouth » 02 Sep 2014, 19:12

A while ago I wrote a post about my 535d baffles had gone in my rear back box. After numerous phone calls I got a price for the back box ALONE for £1020 + VAT + £££ for fitting. After talking to a good mate in the trade he recommended a custom place called Stuke designs. So I now have gone from a standard duel to a quad stainless steel with a silencer each side for £500. Bargain!! It sounds deep and throaty with an angry note!! While I was there the original exhaust was on the deck. I noticed one of the rear tails had a vacuum operated butterfly valve. Anyone have any idea what this was for? My guess it opened up when full throttle to let the gases escape even quicker.
And some pics for you to

Exhaust looks good mate and that's a really good price! Good to see the badge gone, the badges aren't well received on any forum I don't think, lol.

Looking good bud... :)

The vacuum butterfly you saw (if the same as the E36 328) opens when the revs get to a certain point which changes the exhaust note... I guess the idea is to keep it quieter when on ticker/low revs and then change the note when the revs rise etc...

Could be wrong though... :)

Half right my good man:-D It was also to maintain back pressure for low-end torque.

DPF out next and another remap. Considering trying to find a larger intercooler to. Could hopefully see 370hp and stupid torque then. The HP would be close to my previous skyline r33 but at an absolute fraction of the price
