Post by blakeway2513 » 13 Jun 2017, 08:11

Hi guys, can anyone offer some advice please?
My car seems to judder in 2nd only under about 2000rpm all the other gears seem to be fine, there are no lights on the dash so I'm lost.

Another daft comment - under 2000 rpm in a petrol? Are you changing up too soon or too slowly?

Hi, I have had the car for a few years and its only started doing this now. It tends to sometimes judder even if I'm in 2nd over 3000rpm it feels like it loses power for a split second then picks back up.. All the other gears seem fine

Hmm. Assuming everything else does as it should, then it can only be the gearbox. Usually a juddering is a sign of the end of the clutch, but typically it's as abvious in 1st as other gears. The actual gearbox is all mechanical.

For your sanity, I'd take to to you local BMW indepedent and let them test drive it.

You could sit the car on level ground stop put the car into 3rd lift the clutch slowly and if the car stalls striate away the clutch is not slipping if it tries to set off then the clutch is slipping.
But the shudder could be a warped clutch plate.
