640d Coupe Msport review and lease pricing

Post by Lewy » 24 Jan 2012, 13:26

Hi Guys,

I'm in love!! And it's a diesel

Test drove the new 640d today and it's got bags of power! (probably repsond well to a remap too )

The interior is lovely, very modern and comes as standard with the sat nav, BMW Assist (this is a great feature), parking camera's, 'black panel' dash with colour display, telephone connection with 'office' function which uses the settings and internet in your phone to display emails etc. A real class act.

The 640d coupe Msport info:

Power: 309 bhp
Torque: 630nm
0 - 62: 5.5 secs
CO2 emissions: 145 g/km
Combined fuel consumption: 51.4 (amazing for such a powerful car!)
OTR £: £66,745
Excise duty band: F
RFL: £130
Insurance group: 47
Annual fuel cost (based on 15k): £1,857

Thoroughly enjoyed the drive and with leasing costs at £5k + 35 x £399 - the overall cost is £18,965 over the 3 years.

Take my existing car to compare cost:

Purchase cost £18k + interst on loan = £21k
cost of maintaining over 3 years = £6k
Sell car at 3 years = £8k

Total cost over 3 years = £19k

That's obviously without the huge fuel savings so it's now cheaper to run a brand new 6er than it is to buy a second hand one! - flippin mental!

Just need to sell mine and I think I'm almost sold!

Post some pics up a little later and fill the thread with some more genral info about the car

I'm pretty sure they're talking a 'different' insurance scale to be fair, I think mine is just Group 20 (but then they go A, B, C, D etc etc) Just taking the figures from the bits I had today. Cracking drive though and I'm really not a diesel fan normally. Gear change (btw it has 8 gears!!) is very smooth, DSC isn't too nannified, gives you a bit of 'edge' before it kicks in, it's so much more advanced than the old 6 series, just can't believe the 2 cars are only 7 years apart...
