Mid Wales Cruise July, Anyone Fancy it?
Destination Tywyn Sea Front
I’m just seeing if theres any interest in a cruise through the welsh country side to the sea side, this is probably a bit sketchy but heres my idea
Sat 6th July, meeting point Telford services M54 junction 4,meet at 8am on carpark look for Days Inn hotel, there should be plenty of room for parking leave 8:30am
Next the route: Join the M54 all the way to A5, follow A5 to Churncote coppice and join the A458 {Welshpool Rd} this where the it gets more interesting and scenic. for those who wish to fuel up grab a coffee, or wish to join the cruise at Ford there is a service station, BP i think, We follow A458 all the way to Welshpool where we join the A483 into the centre of Welshpool and turn right and rejoin A458, the scenic views now get a lot nicer with photo oppurtunities with some great back drops ie: theres a steam train yard and those into taking pics, who would’nt like a pic of thier BMW with an old steam train billiowing out smoke from the funel in the background or old rolling stock, theres hills, rivers ect ect all for back drops, we follow this road as far as Mallwyd {Mallwyd service station} Turn left onto the A470, more photo opps with old disused welsh churches for back drops and slate hills, we follow this cemmaes road roundabout and join A489, as far as Machynlleth where we turn right and join the A487 and follow until we see a T junction and join A493, drive through Aberdovey {not a lot of parking here} keep following A493 until you see Talyllyn Railway and turn left and follow road to sea front where there is 2 big enough car parks plus road parking, this post code LL36 ODE should put you within eye sight of car parks,
Now your here theres usual photo shoots hand shaking ect ect, theres enought eating places and drinking places to be had, the Talyllyn preservation steam railway where you can take a ride along the coast if you wish,
I chose this route and destination for 1 or 2 reasons, The drive is scenic with fast bits, slow bits, bends ect, Tywyn is not over busy so parking should be easy, an ideal place for all the family and kids to have a day by the sea side, Put a freindly BMWE presence in wales and maybe pick up a member or two, and lastly there seems to be a lot of meets down south and maybe this is just a little bit different and a bit easier for the Midlands members, but all are welcome.
Its about a 2hr - 2 and hour drive,
This is just an idea feel free to contribute ideas
I hope i have not bored you to death, if there is any interest please put your name down and if theres enough interest we can make this a firm event on the calendar

Count me in Jonniey, great idea! Hopefully this will extend well beyond the Midlands too, it's certainly worth it for the drive and day out - great itinerary

This is more like a holiday rather than a cruise for me
It's a million miles away!!!
I might see if I can stay over as it does sound good
