True but the problem is i'm a long way from the Central Belt haha. A meet in the Central Belt would be a fair trek for me.

Make a weekend of it mate - I got a Travelodge for £19 and am travelling on the Saturday. I've done MK to Aberdeen many times and Manchester is 150 miles closer!!

Aye i'm a big fan of £19 (and sometimes £9 if you're lucky) Travelodge rooms! Hell of a long way though but will consider it.....i've got extended family down in Suffolk which the family (mum, dad, me and bro) used to drive down and visit at least once a year. I left home though in 2008 (month after I passed driving test actually) and only personally driven the trip once (usually train it now). Also picked up my vr6 from North London. Apart from those 2 trips, furthest i've driven is Carlisle!

What you been up to Aberdeen for?

I worked in the oil business at Tullos from 1989 until 1998 and have visited since and delivered/collected a car from Westhills just before Christmas!!

What did you do in oil industry? That's the whole reason i'm in Scotland! My dad worked for Shell in Lowestoft and got transfrered to Aberdeen in 1996 (he's still there)......and now i've found myself working in the same industry haha

Btw I didn't even exist in 1989 ;)

I did a few different roles whilst I was there. Most recent (and most enjoyable) was in Business Services for what was then the Central Business Unit (Gannet, Kittiwake, Auk and Anasuria). I travelled to Lowestoft quite a few times (and was there yesterday!). Most of my roles then were HR related.

Nice, i've got a lot of family in Lowestoft and surrounding area.....it's a dump haha, roads are a joke too! So what brought you to Lowestoft? Not business surely? Everythings shut down and moved to Yarmouth or Aberdeen. The high street is like a ghost town these days too.

It was purely a weekend away by the seaside! I was only there overnight and worked there when the Southern gas fields were managed from there. It was a bit quiet but it is pre-season.......although the hotel was excellent and I had one of the best Chinese meals ever whilst we were there! Southwold is just down the coast and I used to stay at the Swan there when travelling on business, but they've got greedy with the oil (gas!) money and wanted over £100 for a night!! The main roads in/out were in remarkably good condition, presumably due to the light traffic. I enjoyed it, but prefer Aberdeen any day.
