Hi just done the CTEK trickle charger thing so hoping all will be well otherwise it will be anew battery.I notice that the existing battery is a BMW Varta 70ah,would that be the original battery from 2009 I wonder. There is no date on it so maybe it is the original as most people put the date on a replacement don't they ?

Nope - BMW branded batteries were OEM install, Varta will be a replacement since.

I have heard that if you leave the key fob in the ignition and in the on position and also have a trickle charger attached then the battery in the key fob will get charged up and the battery will not suffer as a result.True or false.

Not certain, but my money would be on false. Reason being, this would mean the coils around the key slot would alwyas be charged, regardless of a charger beibg attached, and that'd kill the battery in #normal use' usrely?

Plus - rechargeable units nred to run down and be recharged periodically as otherwise severely reduces the charge capacity.

I suspect the car may need programming - which is a software/laptop job. If you come along to one of our events next year, there may be someone who can help you....

( maxwell - is this a programmable feature?)

Well this is a mystery but I am not complaining as my key fob just opened my roof after weeks of refusing to do so. :)] Not quite sure what I did to make a difference but just pressed the top button in the vain hope something might happen and suddenly the windows went down and the roof started to move and disappear into the boot so all is well with me for the time being. Thanks for all the comments and advice. ^:)^
